Privacy policy
How Nela handles your information. Most of it never leaves your iPhone.
Last updated: Draft, not yet published
Draft — not yet in effect
You choose which apps Nela helps you take a break from. Your Screen Time data stays on your iPhone. There are no ads, analytics or trackers. If you sign in, we keep a backup of your pet’s progress so it can come back on a new phone, and deleting your account deletes it.
1. Who we are
Kovacs Software Solutions provides Nela: Screen Time Pet (“Nela”) and this website and is responsible for the personal information described here. Email [email protected] with privacy questions or requests.
2. Our principles
- You choose the protected apps. Nothing is limited unless you select it.
- We don’t read your content. The app does not read your messages and does not inspect social-media content.
- Screen Time stays with Apple. The apps and websites you select are handled through Apple’s privacy-preserving Screen Time mechanisms. The app works with opaque selections and does not learn which apps they are.
- No ads, analytics or tracking. The app and this website contain no advertising, analytics or tracking tools, and the website sets no cookies.
- Quests are self-reported. When you complete a real-life quest, you tell the app so; it does not track you to check.
- No location or Health data. The app does not request access to your location or Apple Health.
3. What stays on your iPhone
These are kept on your device and are never sent to us:
- Your Screen Time permission, the apps and websites you protect, your schedule and your daily limit.
- Reminders, which the app schedules on your iPhone. We do not collect a push-notification token.
- Your pet’s progress while you use the app without signing in: its name, level, coins, room, collection, the history of your time away, and your quests.
4. Information we handle
- Account. When you first open the app, it creates a guest account identifier so it can sign you in later. If you choose Sign in with Apple, we receive Apple’s identifier for you and, if Apple shares them, your name and email address. To operate and protect the service we also handle a coded identifier for your app installation, sign-in tokens, and technical information such as IP addresses.
- Progress backup. Only if you sign in: a copy of your pet’s progress (the items listed in the last point of section 3), with a short summary of it such as your pet’s name, level and coins. It is stored under your account so it can be restored when you sign in on another iPhone. It contains nothing from Screen Time.
- Purchases. Apple processes App Store payments; we never receive payment-card details. RevenueCat keeps your subscription status and purchase history under your account’s identifier so the app knows whether you have Nela Plus.
- Support and website. When you email us, we receive your email address and what you choose to send. Requests to this website and the service create short-lived technical logs.
5. Service providers and sharing
We use a small number of providers, each only for its role:
- Laravel Cloud, which runs on Amazon Web Services, hosts the service, its database and this website.
- Apple provides Sign in with Apple and processes App Store payments.
- RevenueCat manages subscription status.
Processing can take place in other countries, including the United States. We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising. We disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect people and the service.
6. Retention, deletion, and security
We keep your account and its backup until you delete your account. You can delete it in the app under Settings, or by email if you can’t use the app (see Delete your account). Deleting your account removes it, its backup and its sign-in links from our service, revokes the app’s access to your Sign in with Apple, asks RevenueCat to delete your purchase history, and clears your pet’s progress on that iPhone. Technical logs are kept only briefly. Some records may be kept where the law requires it or to resolve a request.
Uninstalling the app does not delete your account or cancel an App Store subscription.
7. Your choices and rights
- Use the app without an account. Your progress then stays on your iPhone only.
- Change the protected apps, Screen Time access and notifications at any time.
- Delete your account in Settings or by email.
- Manage App Store subscriptions in your Apple account settings.
- Email [email protected] to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of the personal information we hold.
Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, including to complain to your local data protection authority.
8. Children
The minimum age and any parental controls will be set before release. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law; contact us if you believe a child has provided information.
9. Changes and contact
This is a draft. We will update this policy before release and whenever the service changes, and the date above will identify the latest version.
